Around each corner you expect to see the ghosts of the conquistadors and their native victims. Hauntingly beautiful.

About 500 years old, this is interesting for the historic architecture yet kind of sad for what it was about. But that is typical for religious endeavors attempting to force their beliefs on others in spite Christ's command to knock, tell, then leave if not accepted. In this case they conquered, burned anything they didn't agree with, and all but forced a people to accept their ways. All the same, history is history and it is always interesting to be able to see what your able with your own eyes.

Visited today 10/16/19. WARNING I would call before going since there is a film crew there currently. It is a beautiful area with a interesting history. Wish I knew about the crew being there & I would have gone another time.nI would recommend driving a few miles north to Soda Dam on hwy 4.
