Green Oak Township Police Department

I had an encounter with two male officers when they were required to perform a wellness check on me after a coworker expressed concerns. As someone with a minor history of legal infractions (from 10 years ago,) police usually treat me like a second class citizen whose undeserving of their services and therefore they're disrespectful, look at me with absolute contempt, and don't display the slightest bit of professionalism. I initially expected these two Green Oak officers to treat me like this, however; I'm extremely thankful and pleased to say that they were very polite and explained their reason for coming to my house and such. They maintained a highly professional demeanor as we continued to talk, and I soon noticed that these two officers were genuinely concerned about my well being, my safety, and my feelings. And given my history of bad experiences with police, it was very heartwarming to be treated kindly and shown sincere compassion when I explained the severity of the depression I was dealing with - just the fact that they cared enough to ask me how I was feeling and provided feedback that was sympathetic and understanding - it brings me to tears and I'm very grateful that these guys are serving this community. The simple fact that they truly cared about my well being, offered emotional support, and continually encouraged me to seek professional help showed me that they were both extremely professional in their work, and that they're dedicated to helping/protecting/serving this community and the people in it.

Having lived in Green Oak Township since 2002, I can honestly say that this department is one of the finest in the region. Always have had positive experiences with all the officers. You guys are doing it right!

GO Twp police have an annual open house and community out reach. Great officers, friendly, dedicated. Can't speak to the comfort of the cells though...
