Awesome place to go browse and learn about Upshur County. I never knew Don Henley was born in Gilmer. I always knew about Johnny Mathias. Worth checking out.

Self-guided tour small unique but great if you just want to stop in kids have room to walk around all around a good Museum

My husband volunteered here and loved this place. He was accused of using a racial slur in front of a lady while talking about the history of Gilmer. He was told he was no longer welcome there. So sad that anyone would believe this rumor of him..a good man. Shame on Uphur County for having a director who would believe this of him.
