Don't get me wrong the school is a great place for my children to meet friends, but at the end of the day . The teachers don't seem to really care. I say this because I have tried to schedule a parent teacher conference regarding my child's grade and instead of a meeting face to face they rather speak over the phone and lets just say till this date I have not gotten the parent teacher conference I have requested. The school sends stuff home last minute for example sending home a paper regarding a project on Wednesday but its due Friday of the same week . Then you talk to the teachers and express your concerns about your child and its not addressed to where they can succeed and that is my problem with the school.
I'm one of the students there and it's a good school to go to because there's a lot of help for people like one of my teachers Miss Hardaway Miss Jones and his mrs fry and be sure to go there because it's a nice school and I love it and there's a lot of nice people that you can meet there like the principal and the assistant principal they're good with children
I love this school for my child! Great education, friendly staffs & Teachers!
Poor leadership there at the school including teachers to head Principal Wendy Hawthorne. My two oldest children in 4th and 5th grade had the same teachers thru out the school year and didn't receive any kind of development while attending Beltline. They(teachers) are not concerned about kids progressions. Only attendance, test scores and their pay check, which is to make them look good. Once I had to find out my child was not doing well in a subject by looking at her report card. This was such an disappointment to find out this way other than a teacher reaching out or offering tutoring. That's like setting them up for failure. I am a very engaged parent, that does my best at home to help my kids on my end but I am not a professional teacher. I express this all my kids teachers of the bat to communicate and build that teacher-parent relationship. I am the one mentioned tutoring and then after, it was proposed. My children have been talked about negatively in front their peers by their teachers about test score instead of encouraging them to do better. One of the kids have been told to stand in the rain until they get quite and was pushed aggressively by a teacher for accidentally running into from coming in at recess. I was so glad this school year was over to look for another school my kids can attend and be set up for success. But the icing on the cake was my 4th grader was giving a blank certificate at the award ceremony without even her name on it. I feel this was personal and for whatever reason this teachers were petty and child-like. Maybe because I have complained on them to the principal. But I only did that after speaking to those teachers but they showed no effort or concern in my child. People said Beltline had a different culture at the school, I hate my kids had to be the example. I expressed these concerns to the principal thru out the year but she down played everything and made excuses for the teachers . This is my first time going thru this with LISD. Never had any issues like this with Pleasant Run Elem or Rolling Hills.
The school is a good place to make friends and stuff but the learning is not good because of the way people are so disturbing others I am only in 6 and I've been there every year except 2nd
