There was a misunderstanding about a particular routine trash pick up. Right on main street merely blocks from downtown. I addressed the situation in a voice message for the city manager. being irritated at the time, and knowing my everyday voice is not bubbly sounding, this was a bad choice. My family calls me Eeyore from winnie the pooh. Described as gloomy, depressed and pessimistic. I received no callback. My point obviously had poor delivery or was of no significance. I now went downtown to explain my concerns in person. With my last message in mind I approached this issue with compliments and examples of previous service that went well above and beyond employment expectations. With that being said I explained how the city employee tossed broken down boxes,(contained in a single box) to the side, inadvertently ending up in the ditch. This is Perplexing... toss toward ditch, toss in truck? More work was done to avoid work than doing the work in the first place exponentiating a foreseeable problem; unless you thought no one is watching. I believe (Mike Sweeney) was the supervisor I talked to. (If someone else I apologize), The response I was barraged with was denial, closed minded, unwavering, not a chance of any personal responsibility, topped off with taunts, and being directly condescending. Two other city employees witnessed this. One nice lady from the Gas company interjected to help out. I thank that woman. I was told that NO way they would pick the boxes up, contradictory to city code and statute stating at progression of my fine if found at fault would result in them charging me for them to clean it up. Apparently the director over sanitation does not understand his own rules and codes, or feels he is above the city law. If this had been settled amicably everything would have been fine and I'd still be singing praises over my last interaction with them. Considering I must now request a hearing, face fines, and aggravate a community I live in...on top of my property standards being compromised, after all the improvements I've done over the years leaves me a little beside myself. There is no reason it should have or did come to this point, past the condescending, rude, inconsequential attitude shoved at me.nRemember: One bad thing doesn't make the entire 24 hr day bad.nDavid C Fletcher.
