Wing Luke Museum is a wonderful place to visit for locals and visitors alike. Being a Seattle native it was important to me to see the museum and hear about the stories about the International District. My family lived on Beacon Hill for many years and seeing the Asian American and Pacific Islander cultural history of Seattle struck a chord with me and my heritage. All the staff were friendly and I especially want to shout-out Em(?) who was our tour guide. She was well-versed in the history of the city and building and could answer all the questions the group asked her.

A sobering experience, this museum is very well organized and does provoke conversations. You'd be a pretty cold person not to respond to the painful first hand accounts, or to note how far and yet how little we've come. This is a text heavy museum, so be prepared to spend at least two hours if you intend to digest everything!

Wish I had more time to spend going through each exhibit. We happened upon the last tour of the day which seems volunteer run. Our guide gave a great overview of Wing Luke's impact, the mission of the museum, the historical ties to the communities, while also linking his own upbringing and memories of the Seattle he remembers growing up for context. He brought it all back to my partner and I who come from second generation immigrant families and how important it is to recognize their sacrifice so that we may live a better life than they did.

Small hole-in-the-wall place that charges 20 bucks to show you pictures.
