Took an impromptu visit because my husband wanted to buy ammo at a store down the street. The kids and I loved it. So many interesting artifacts. Has both upstairs and downstairs filled with all sorts of stuff. The lady at the front desk was very nice and informative.
Always a great place to visit, so much local history and just really friendly people.
Google said they were open yesterday. Nope. Went today. Webdite said open at 9 am. Nope. Sign on the door said open at 10:30. Can't rate this place because I can't get inside.
Fantastic collection with photos of many local donars and their respective item. Great personal touch. There is something to interest everyone: military uniforms, period clothing, medical paraphernalia and instruments, household items, dolls, Cherokee relics and historical documents, even an old monopoly game!
I learned so much and was more shocked at how much of US History I didn't know. I urge everyone American and Non-American to stop through and learn the truth about US History.nnI never thought I'd be weeping in a Museum but there I was cringing at how much I didn't know and the sufferings of the Natives. What is even more shocking is that by the late 1700's the Native Indians were actually very civilized but portrayed as if they weren't.nnAnd even more shocking is learning the REAL truth about Andrew Jackson. Everyone ought to visit and learn the truth about The Trail of Tears.nnTIP - You need to go up the stairs and be buzzed in to enter as only a total of 10 ppl can enter. Also, the sign says last entry is at 4pm but if you don't arrive earlier, they may not let you in. Im glad I persisted and kept returning. There was so much history to learn DOWNSTAIRS!nnTIP 2 - Visit the Cherokee Museum in Cherokee NC which has soooo much more history to teach too!
