Americus Police Department

This is definitely the laziest, slowest police department I have ever dealt with. My car was recently broken into so I filed a report. If it were not for me calling the department EVERY day and demanding results, my case would be forgotten. I am sick of dealing with these officers, as they are of no help to me. I have done my own research and found out more about the man that broke into my car than APD ever did. My stolen items are still not recovered but I have found out more information on the theft than any officer has. Every time I call and ask to speak to an officer, I am told that I will “get a call back” later that day. I am never called back. I am beyond angry at the people in this department and I hope I never have to deal with them again

I am not one to rant online or talk negatively about our law enforcement; however, I do feel like this needs to be reported. I have had two incidents this year in which I have had to had APD involved. The first was on New Year's Day 2019. While picking up a couple of friend's who had been drinking, my back windshield was busted out. I called APD and the responding officer was quick to come; however, did not do much other than write a report and drive around looking for a camera. A few day's later, I personally contacted the company that owned the apartments and was able to get the video (APD had made no request and I had to personally bring the video to them). After watching the video, APD said they would make contact with the subject and get in contact with me; however, over 4 months later I still have not heard anything back. The second case happened approximately a month ago. One of my friend's vehicle's was entered and my Nintendo Switch that she was borrowing was stolen, along with her personal items. The same officer responded to this case and, while I was not present, the same result as what happened during my previous incident with this officer happened again according to my friend. Between my friend and I, we have both made calls that have gone unreturned and request for footage. It feels as if both cases have just been left to collect dust.
