You want the worst police department....you found it Cobb County! Dont understand how half the people are employed here! Rude! As far as the supervisor for the afternoon that likes to hang up on people! No regard to human life... COBB IS A JOKE!
I got pulled over by a Cobb Co. officer due to a homeowner accusing me of trespassing when in reality I am doing a job of home evaluations via pictures of houses from the road that is public property. Essentially I am doing the appraisers leg work which is private information. When people ask my business I have to advise it’s confidential and the road is public property. I am being paid by Velocity REOs to do this work which is time sensitive. Since the homeowner lied and told the officer I was trespassing, the police were called on high alert. Supposedly Velocity REOs has a relationship with all police departments regarding our work for the bank as many homeowners get paranoid of someone taking pictures, like in the movie the burbs. The difference is I am not trying to hide. As I left the homeowners property she chased after me in my truck, after a few turns she was gone, we are trained to avoid confrontation. As I’m waiting to turn left out of the neighborhood, a Cobb county patrol unit was trying to turn in the neighborhood. I already assumed the homeowner had called the police and attempted to flag down the officer. Instead, he drove in the direction I was going in, waited for me to pass in which I tried to get his attention, no response. At the next light he gets behind me and pulls me over. Hence I’m being profiled. Once pulled over while wearing a contractor shirt I got out of the truck right away to prevent the officer from calling more units wasting time and tax dollars. Instead he told me to remain in the car, understood. The sergeant and another unit pull up. I recorded lots of video to document how false 911 reporting needs to have a crackdown and fine to the paranoid persons calling 911 repeatedly. Once the officers figured out I was in compliance, an officer asked me to stop by the police department to advise I’m in the area to save on 911 calls. So the next day while working in the area, I go to Cobb police headquarters to share my information but they are closed due to holiday! The place was a ghost town except for a 911 operator #46 I believe, was out front waiting for a ride. I introduced myself and she asked my purpose. I shared my information, even gave her a couple of business cards. Since no one was there, I decided to take a few pics for Google Maps as there are hardly any building pictures that reflect real activity. See images of this place and you will see me. As I was sitting in my truck uploading the pictures to google maps, Marietta Police pull up asking our Id’s and my purpose stating a 911 dispatcher called them out due to suspicious activity of wait for it, taking pictures! I would think these folks know you don’t need to be there to scout the place, our city is a leader in surveillance around the world. Once again I documented in continuation of proof of false 911 calls literally called by the 911 department when all someone had to do was just politely ask, what are the pictures for? The camera is not a gun. And officers need such training to avoid homeowners taking advantage of false reporting. The 911 operator even had my business card, despite she wouldn’t even tell me her name. The police, bless their hearts, are doing their job, the 911 operator and homeowner need to respect how quickly they dial 911 vs just asking an officer to do a check up. Before smart phones there were photographers doing this exact work. The reason we have to take pictures with our phones is due to having the photos GPS marked, all new mapping software can pinpoint. Trying to explain all this to an officer overwhelms them because their dumbfounded we live in an era where people have multiple jobs or gigs that pay by how fast you get the work done. My boss is a database with no emotion. So next time you get a call of someone taking pictures, think twice before sending troops off to a false report wasting tax dollars when someone that really needs help is waiting because of a false report, including 911 operators. I still have to come back to identify myself, hopefully this will get their attention.
Officers and staff went out of their way to help. If the individual didn't have the answer; they would get someone who did. Received several calls to update me on the situation and what the next step in the process was.
One of the most corrupt and poorly run police departments in the country. Officers behave unprofessionally and supervisors lie to cover up complaints.
The service here is absolutely despicable. The lady at the front desk was extremely unpleasant and unhelpful as well as her supervisor who had nothing productive to add. Get as far away from this dump as you can.
