Pretty Monument Mary Washington. There's also the grave site for the Gordon family of Kenmore around back of Mary's monument. Too bad the 80+ enslaved people the Gordon's owned don't have nice memorial there as well. Definitely take a walk down to meditation rock as well. It's a cool spot with a nice view down over Kenmore Park.

This is a nice place to visit in Fredericksburg. It's a pretty site and offers picturesque views. However, there is a lot of broken glass (from alcohol bottles) scattered all over the place, and I once saw an open condom on the ground (not sure if it was used, I didn't get close enough). This poses a safety risk for pets and people, as there is an area behind the monument that people frequently sit/climb on and can easily get cut when maneuvering the landscape.nnOtherwise, this is a nice historic site to visit and it's free/open to the public.

Nice place for a picnic and to learn some history. Pay your respects and take the kids( or fur babies) to the park there as well.

It's a neat monument — not a lot of on-site historical markers or anything. There's also some rock forms behind it called meditation rock that you might as well see since you're already there.
