Adopt-a-Dog

Christie is a wonderful person to work with while looking at adoptions and going through the process. Her patience, positive attitude and skill set with dogs and people are admirable to say the least. This is a wonderful, caring facility with great people.

I've been applying for dogs for months and either they get adopted or the rescue flat out ignores me. At least they were polite enough to let me know. But after this last application I'm done trying to adopt dogs from small picky rescues. Buying a dog from a breeder is so much easier to do then try to rescue a dog these days.

Shame on you! A good person I know tried to adopt a dog from this shelter recently. They encountered extremely rude personnel and unreasonable expectations as a potential adopter. I'm a huge advocate for adopting over buying and was extremely disappointed to hear of this person's overall negative experience with your shelter. In addition to the rudeness, they were rejected, yes actually rejected, because they have a full time job. They also have a wonderful home with a fully fenced in backyard and the means to take excellent care of a dog, but that apparently was not good enough. Interestingly, it seems the dog they were interested in was sent home with another person the same day they received their rejection notice. Here's a helpful hint: if you want to promote adoption, be more encouraging and let people know a better fit for the particular dog was found. Don't be so rude and mean! All you are doing is turning people away from adoption, which is a horrible shame!

I recently had to move and couldn't take my dog with me. Several friends recommended Adopt A Dog and even though this was the hardest thing I ever did, the people at Adopt A Dog were so kind and patient and helped me so much. You can tell they really love the dogs and were great. Never pressured me or made me feel like the loser I felt I was for leaving my dog behind. Thank you very much.
