Sir, honestly we didn't get treated well by Mr. Scott. I brought my 9 yr son all the way from NJ after reading up on your observatory and Fridays update on your website. I understand it is free and runs by donation. So I am not complaining much but just sharing my observations. It looked like there was a scout troop visiting your observatory on that day. There were multiple scout troop ppl before us. Mr. Scott is very knowledgeable and did explain in detail to them. We stood in line for at least 30 minutes and there was two more families behind us. When our turn came, he enquired if we were part of the troops, made us wait at the door and then just bailed on us. He went to the lawn telescope and started explaining more to the scout troops. I understand that everyone does their service. We just waited for him for another 45 minutes right at the door expecting him to return. However if he is going to be busy or needs to give his full attention to another group, it could have been just mentioned on the website. We could have planned our trip on another day. The rest of the 2 families also went back completely unhappy. Then someone else volunteered to show around the observatory but he didn't know much. A better coordination and update on the website would have saved everyone the trouble.nnUPDATE to below response:n1) On your website, it only states it is public viewing and everyone is invited. It does not state FCFS. Also there were 4 groups or pairings of the previously stated group before us who were let in and explained. It was apparent that Mr. Scott was friends with someone who was part of the previous group.nn2) If there is going to be a preferential treatment for a specific group or your team is booked for a private or large group tour, you could have politely published on your website that today's public viewing is closed. It would have saved me a 4 hour one way journey.nnWhat happened was not right. Your team could have better coordinated, handled and communicated.

Have been to this area in RI hundreds of times and somehow missed this hidden gem. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Dark Skies.

We came here last year and what an incredible experience to be able to see the beauty of the moon, the magnificent jupiter, saturn and it’s amazing rings, interesting quasars through the telescope. So clear and it seems so close like you can touch them. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. No entrance fee . You just give a donation. You do have to wear pants, long sleeve shirt, head/ear covering and preferably sneakers because understandably, there’s so much bugs and bug spray didn’t even work. We were hoping to return this year to see the milky way (only seen when the moon is not around and the sky is clear, we were told)and other planets (only seen at certain times), but we might have to forego it because of the current situation with Covid19ud83dude29
