Took my son here using our Freebie February family pass. I wanted to thank you for offering this wonderful promotion! We enjoyed ourselves while we were here. My son particularly enjoyed the vending machine style art. Although all the artists were not in stock, he was able to select one and was happy with his choice. He told me he wants to come back when the other artist's have more work in stock so he can get more. My favorite collection was the industrial/Mechanic themed works by Grant Wood. It was neat to see the early pieces from Rome, but I wish they had more local artists, as there are so many talented people here. Even seeing school aged art would have been nice. The Grant Wood Parody pieces were funny and I enjoyed seeing so many variations.
I took my daughter to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art because she is learning about history and Grant Wood in school. She loved looking at all of the art displayed. She especially enjoyed the Greek art exhibit with the stone statues. We recommend going.
Loved visiting this museum. The staff was friendly and the exhibits were filled with cool and interesting pieces. My favorites were the Grant Wood and Ancient Roman exhibits. Wasn’t too busy either so there was plenty of space to take your time while you walk through!
I am not an art person, in fact I am the exact opposite and probably the least creative person this side of the Mississippi. But this Museum always has worthwhile exhibits and is constantly updating their offerings. Its a wonderful detox for the brain to come here for an hour, not look at your phone, and enjoy someone else's talents.
First time in many years that I visited. Wonderful cultural experience. Marvin Cone, Grant Wood, and Mauricio Lasansky--does it get any better?? Staff was friendly and had a great visit. Highly recommended to everyone new to the area.
