After years of plucking unwanted facial hairs which became a daily routine, I decided to seek a more permanent solution. I tried laser treatment which was expensive and not effective in light/white hair. What I needed was electrolysis treatment and I found the perfect solution for me with Cheryl. Cheryl did an excellent job of managing my expectations by teaching me of the natural hair growth cycles and what I could expect as the hairs became less and less coarse and finally ceased to grow back!!! I highly recommend Cheryl's treatment for a permanent solution to unwanted facial hair.

I feel compelled to update this as a warning for any transgender people or allies considering hair removal here. I really wish I didn’t have to, but people ought to know.nnSeveral months ago this electrologist, Cheryl, intentionally misgendered a trans woman who had been seeing her semi-regularly for facial hair removal. It was not a slip of the tongue (though it did reveal her true feelings), as the trans woman had only ever presented to this electrologist as a woman, with a woman’s name, using female pronouns. This electrologist clearly did or still does not see trans women as women.nnWhen Cheryl was corrected on the incorrect pronoun use, she apologized to the non-trans person who corrected her instead of the trans woman she misgendered, who was standing right there in shock, as she had been using this electrologist’s services on-and-off for months. It was a harsh betrayal. The trans woman cried on the ride home and will not be returning.nnCheryl was happy to accept the trans woman’s money but not her identity. She also saw nothing wrong with making that known to said trans woman, which was harmful, transphobic, and, in my opinion, not apologizing to the person she hurt was immoral.nn————nn• If you are comfortable with displayed bigotry against trans people, then 5/5 stars. She is indeed skilled at her craft.nn• Intentionally misgendering a trans person is unacceptable for anyone, but most especially those in the facial hair removal business. If you are NOT OKAY with your electrologist being bigoted against trans people, then 2/5 stars.nn————nnNow you may be skeptical, but I believe if you ask Cheryl yourself she will verify that this did happen (if she remembers it; it did happen a few months ago).nnI want to be clear that I have NO desire to see her lose business. I believe she is a good person but is ill informed, which is the basis of the transphobia I witnessed. However, actions do have consequences like this updated review to warn people who are at risk of being hurt by transphobia. The impact is real, and it IS harmful.nnThat this happened makes me sad. My hope is that Cheryl takes this as an opportunity to learn that trans people are who they say they are. Every major medical organization backs this view based on decades of research and the best available evidence that’s led to a scientific consensus on the matter (which is a big deal).
