Don't tell anyone about this New Braunfels favorite dining spot--locals love it and want to keep it quiet. And for good reason! An adorable setting in restored buildings downtown with its own little garden and shops; friendly service, consistently delicious and interesting food, and a good wine list. Expect a wait on Fridays & weekends, during summer tourist season and around holidays. Best way to cope is get a glass of wine & appetizer & enjoy the garden. But don't tell anyone.

The food is great except for the Jalapeño cheddar steak thing. It's literally a slab of well done hamburger meat and they have the audacity to call that a steak. But, I think I just got unlucky with my order cause I tried my friends food and it was exceptional. The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff is extremely kind and hospitable. This is a very good place to eat and I recommend it to anyone in this area.

My husband and I love Huisache! I'm vegan and my husband is very much a meat-eater and we can both have delicious and satisfying meals here. It has a great ambiance as well! We've never had a bad experience here, I highly recommend it

Actually, I’d give our experience a 3.5 stars, but Google doesn’t allow it. First the good: The ambiance, outdoor waiting area and the indoor dining are some of the best in our region. This was our anniversary dinner, but we go to Huisache Grill at other times when we want fine local food. My beef medallions and garlic butter grilled shrimp were excellent, as was the wine pairings. For us, this is much more than a grill - it’s a dining experience. Now the suggestions for improvement: Get a reservation system of some kind, online or phone in. This has become normal in our socially-distanced world. Also a check-in system that sends me a confirmation text that the Host recorded my phone number correctly. Huisache is quality enough to provide these services. Then, train the staff to introduce themselves. Our server was a lovely young gal, but we had no sense of connection when she didn’t introduce herself. Lastly, my wife ordered the chicken fried steak, which was good, but only came with fries and ketchup. A restaurant of this high quality should offer mashed potatoes as the side option. Fries at Huisache are like a fusion of fine dining with fast food. Mashed potatoes would be a common and better side to go along with the rest of the plate. All said, we’ll be back!
