I didn't get to go in. I found out you have to make an appointment or go on one of the open days. However I have been wanting to see the place since I was a kid and finally got the chance. Any fan of Conan needs to go. Is it some great tourist stop, no. But, it is home to a great personality of American history. If you're in the area take the drive and just feel the spirit that is present. So glad I stopped. Was a bucket list item for me.

I've been wanting to visit the home of Howard, one of my all time favorite authors for many years. My son and I made the trip for Howard Days 2019. The museum was great thanks to the Project Pride volunteers who spent so much time leading tours and answering questions.

I've been here three times, and each time it's like getting in touch with a fun little open secret of Texas history. The docents are all wonderful, and the gift shop has a better selection of Howard books than literally any major or independent bookstore. If you're in Abilene or Brownwood it's well worth the half-hour detour to see the home of one of the most brilliant pulp writers to ever live.
