Grady's BBQ

By far the best fried catfish in town. Very clean and crispy cooked to perfection. Everything else is on par with the BBQ in town. I have fond memories of this place from my childhood eating Sunday lunch after church with 20+. Still makes me smile to think of my Grandmother dancing around that old place back in its heyday. We ate here two days in a row this week since we were down the road working. We went back again since it was so good the first time. The second trip did not disappoint either. A must try.

The food was good. The actual restaurant could use at the very least a scrub down. We visited the Bandera location on a Sat. It was not very busy. We were there for about an hour and a half. I went to wash my hands after ordering food. The bathroom was atrocious. The trash can was overflowing with paper towels. There were paper towels all over the floor and in the sinks. The sinks hardly had running water. Then we sat down and saw an employee replace the sweet tea tub. The employee spilled half the container on the floor and it was still there when we left. No one ever cleaned it up. The condiment cart was sticky along with the utensils to serve. It is a shame. We used to love visiting Gradys, but it seems like the employees do not care enough about the restaurant to at least perform basic cleaning tasks. This will be the last visit for us for a very long while.

How was Grady's? It was the worse meal I have eaten in a long time! I ordered brisket/chicken plate! The chicken was dry as hell , it took a long time by the time we got our food it was cold! No condiments what so ever! A real disappointment. From now on its Rudy's or Bill Millers or some other suggested bbq respectable place!

I'd like to say first off, that Grady's BBQ has two locations and I have been to both of them. I think they provide a excellent product and presentation. In this restaurant, you placed your order when you walk up to their order station and then they call your name when the food is ready, if you eat inside the diner. They also have a walk up outside order window where people can pick up their food for takeout. We were the only patrons who ate in the diner at the time of our visit. The restaurant was very clean and so was the parking lot outside. Anyone who goes to restaurants as often as I do can tell if the owners and staff care about the level of cleanliness that are restaurant is concerned about. I have to say that I have rarely had a moment like I did at that visit, when the potato salad absolutely was the best I had ever eaten. The coleslaw that they offer is milk-based, and most restaurants that is either a hit or miss presentation. Grady's coleslaw was the best I've had in San Antonio, since I've lived here for 25 years. They really should take a practice from Bill Miller's BBQ, and sell their potato salad and their coleslaw by the pint or quart. Once the word is out, I have no doubt they will have a constant problem of running out of supply. The only negative that I have about my visit there was that my chicken fried steak was heavily breaded, and the size of the chicken fried steak inside the breading was much smaller than the breading. That particular item would require that you use a metal knife and fork, because the fork and knife that you get to eat it with is plastic. I would recommend that the management increase the size of the steak and decrease the amount of breading and then it would easily get an A. The breading on the chicken fried steak was absolutely superb. Also the two people I came with we're impressed with the quality of the food as well. I will be glad to go there more often, after this covid-19 thing is over. The pricing on the food is very competitive and worth every bite, for the American food that they serve.
