Historical plaque inscription:nAIAA Historic Aerospace Site - The Red Barn.nThis former shipyard was the first home of The Boeing Company, founded in 1916. Affectionately called the Red Barn, this structure, built in 1909, became the first home of Boeing aircraft production. Starting with the Boeing Model C, all early Boeing production took place in this building. Here, the entrepreneurial spirit of William E. Boeing, coupled with engineering innovation, ingenuity and perseverance, paved the way for the quickly unfolding history of commercial aviation. The Red Barn is believed to be the oldest surviving aircraft manufacturing building in America.
Its historical. One of the two original structures left from its 100 yrs history. Had a dinner event hosted inside and was so cosy and insightful. Downstairs you see the beginnings of Boeing incl their first order to deliver post between Seattle and San Francisco! Above you get to see pics and artefacts of WW2 planes.. unfortunately we couldn't go across to the main museum but this little red barn has been a big treat! Enjoy
