I have been trying for months to have someone toenforce a city ordinance as I have a neighbor house looking like a junk yard. I wrote a letter to the mayor and also been to city hall several times. They have said that the are watching him but I not sure about that as they don’t seem to be doing anything. Most of is in Westlake have clean out property after the hurricane and iced weather. I don’t understand how they can said they care about our community when they aren’t enforcing a city ordinance.

I found a bag in the street with expensive items in it, went through it to try and figure out who the owner was (if it was stolen or lost). Upon turning it in to the police I was IMMEDIATELY attacked like I was the bad guy. I spent all day researching the little info I had, trying to get the bag back to its rightful owner and ended up feeling like the villain and having to fill out a lengthy detailed defense statement. I never once felt like the good guy, I was criticized the second I turned it in, and threatened with charges being pressed against me for going through the bag. I could’ve kept it all, I could’ve never reported anything, I could’ve sold everything but I wanted to get it all back to who it belonged to and ended up feeling like I was a suspect and like I did something bad. Made me regret even caring. You could say “well you should’ve reported it immediately”, well what if the bag wasn’t stolen and fell off a truck or something and was just missing? And the person never files a police report saying it’s “stolen”, then their items just sit and rot at the police station. I had 100% righteous intentions and the Westlake police overlooked all of that to reach for something bad. I won’t hesitate to avoid dealing with them the next time I’m faced with a moral dilemma.
