Beautiful little place to discover Pasco's past. Set in a great park with lots to see and do.nHighest recommended area to visit.

The city of New Port Richey has been around since the 1910's and actually predates the incorporation of the City of Port Richey (fun fact!) so there's a lot of history to be explored. The Historical Society houses an excellent assortment of exhibits that highlight the town's founding members, in addition to some of its famous guests and residents. Fun and engaging, and pretty inexpensive, the WPHS is a must-see if you're spending an afternoon traipsing the Downtown New Port Richey district.

Heads up - NO LONGER FREE! Today, I took my kids, who really like this museum and the scavenger hunt, along with my sister who just moved to NPR. We walked in and were “greeted” with “it’s a $3 DONATION per family now.” Okay, that’s reasonable, but I don’t have cash on me. She then opened the door and proceeded to point us to another building we could go to instead. I’m pretty sure the word donation doesn’t mean mandatory, but apparently to the woman today it does. As I stated, $3.00 isn’t bad to go check the museum out, my kids enjoy it, but how this woman went about it was incredibly disrespectful and if that’s how she plans on treating people that go in there then good luck getting those “donations.”nnOtherwise, cute little museum! They have a scavenger hunt my children like to do and lots of history on the city!

It's a very small museum but it's free. It is always neat to see some local color. Good for the kiddos to see the history of the place they live, and of course then go play at the great park right next to it.
