I got my dog from here and she is so sweet and she is potty trained. The service was nice and so we're all of the dogs.

I found a young kitten that could not eat solid food, I could not take care of it properly, I found it on a Saturday by the time the shelter was open, it had died. Animal shelters should not be closed on weekends or holidays, abandoned animals like the one I found can't wait for Monday.

I am impressed with CC Porter Animal Shelter (aka Washington County Animal Shelter). From the 1st time that found a need to go there, I have noticed that everyone who works there really care about the animals, and strive place them with other rescue shelters,if possible. They are seriously working on becoming a NO-KILL facility...

DO NOT under any circumstances take a puppy from this shelter!!!! I went to this shelter 5 times to check on a puppy that was on hold for 2 weeks. My 14 yr. old daughter really wanted this dog. Every time we went, we saw mice running all over the place. The dog food for the shelter is stored in a metal container outside with no protection from rodents. The dogs are able to have contact with one another through the chain link fences that separate them. So if one is sick, there all sick or able to carry parvo virus. I picked up the dog on 05/01 and by 05/05 the dog had full blown parvo virus. Now I have the dog at the vets and this will more than likely be a $1000 learning experience. And I have no guarantees the dog will survive. There is no vet on site at this shelter. No professional supervision other than a sheriff and two staff members from the county jail. I don't blame the people that work there, they do the best with what they have. But the blame has to be put some ware, and I blame Washington county for cutting corners. BEWARE

Can't understand why this shelter isn't opened ever Saturday, and if it is they need to update their site. Can't adopt a animal if not open when most folks can come by because most of us have jobs.but I do like the shelter just wish the cats had a way to see outside
