Absolutely horrible! I contacted non emergency and spoke with an Officer Duncan at dispatch. I was concerned about loud partying, yelling, drinking and young children being present. I asked for an officer to come out and after an HOUR and 20 minutes I had to call back. I was told that my call had been submitted but they couldn't tell when they could get anyone out. Now by this time the people are twice as loud, kids are crying and screaming, bottles are being thrown all over the place and partying has taken a whole new level. I asked when an officer will be out and Officer Duncan said I can't tell you when. Cancel the call. I'll just wait for someone to die and call back. City of Portsmouth is the worst. Can't wait to move.

I got hit by an ambulance and called 911 it took 45 minutes for an officer to show up and when he finally did he was lazy about every aspect of handling the situation. He also filled out the information exchange form incorrectly so my insurance company is having issues with my claim. He refused to fill out a crash report because somehow a police officer is qualified to decide what counts as enough damage. My entire bumper was ripped off and my axle may be cracked because the ambulance hit my rear tire directly. I will be contacting the office to see if I can get the exchange of info sheet filled out correctly.

Would love to make this a Five Star Rating for a police department not crushed by the PC foolishness undermining parents and orderly policing. Please do not suspend or otherwise punish officers who assisted a wonderful Mom in teaching a lesson to the children who shoplifted. Snowflakes are always going to hate something but these cops did right. Please make this right ASAP, Chief!!!!nTo all those complaining about lack of response to non-emergency events, have you considered actually trying to help the police department by fundraising for more or even organizing for volunteer dispatchers? It’s YOUR city. Either taxes have to go up or your services decline. Citizens can make a difference, safely, so start going to City Mgmt meetings, learn about police budgets before you scream about it.

I appreciate how the dispatchers are trained to be kind to people who are going through stressful situations. Dispatcher Davis was extremely nice to me. The police were able to check on my children because I was unable to reach their father. Thank you Portsmouth Police. I appreciate your service to the community. I just wish the phone didn't make weird noises. It scared me.
