Rothschild House Museum

What a beautiful historic house. Does it give out some creepy ghost vibes? Yes, yes it does. Does it make you really appreciate electricity and everyday conveniences? Yes, yes it does. It is well worth the price of admission and the guide is extremely knowledgeable.

I’m only giving it one star but not because of the museum itself, which I’m sure is amazing. But because I drove there and it had a sign saying “closed for the season”. Nowhere is that mentioned In the website or on these reviews (that I can find) and I was very disappointed It was one of two things I was really looking forward to since I’m not a “shopper” and would rather be in a museum. Please change the website and the hours you show listed to reflect this so others won’t waste their time.

We visited this house today quite by accident. We just happened upon it.nnThe docent working today was very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. He gets five stars just for himself!nnHe knew so much and it was fun to learn about the Rothschild family, and also the history of Port Townsend.nnThis house is definitely a place you should visit when you come to Port Townsend.

It is a neat piece of Port Townsend history. The volunteer attendant told us the history of the house and the families story, it was a very enjoyable experience. I am very happy we got to see it.

Knowledgable docent to Welcome. Real family heirlooms remain in house as is! Terrific founding father here!!
