I have had the pleasure of dealing with this agency a few times over my time in Vancouver, and I have yet to have an experience where I was not disappointed with the response (or lack of it). When officers have responded to issues (stolen vehicles left on our private property) the officers are very argumentative and lack the tact to handle concerns. As well as what appears to be lack of community connection and training to handle fulfilling their duty as civil servants. I have never experienced this type of disregard for the community that supports the operations of an agency or organization like I have with Vancouver Officers. It makes me question if they truly are here to serve the public or their own agendas. Increased training (diversity training, communication training, stereotyping training), specifically in socialization and community interaction would yield great returns for the Officers of Vancouver Police Department.

My $3,000 electric bike was stolen on Friday night and due to the great care of The Vancouver Police Department I had my electronic bike back in custody by Saturday night 24 hours late. Thanks so much

Least transparent agency in the state. No body cams, 100% encrypted radios, no citizen accountability. VPD controls all information released if/when they decide the community should be notified. This agency lacks positive leadership and community oriented policing. Way behind-the-times.

Awesome police department! Officer Jay Alie provided my young son and i with a hotel voucher since we're dealing with homelessness at the moment. He was very nice to me, offered my son crayons, helped carry my luggage and even gave me a homeless hotline number to call. This department is also in a great location and is easy to get to by car and by bus.

I’ve made two calls, one about a break in and enter into my apartment when they came they treated me like I was the criminal with guns drawn, second call someone was trying to break into my vehicle same thing they patted me down and treated me like I was a criminal. They lie and say they will help look for the suspect yet they just leave and when the neighbors asked if they should keep and eye out they rudely just said no were looking when they could have warned them an intoxicated suspect with a knife is in the loose. Worst policing I’ve ever seen. Oh not to mention, I got pulled over for putting my phone to my ear for 2 seconds and they gave me $150 fine for it. That’s all they are good for. Probably better of not calling them.
