Aveda Institute Portland, Vancouver Campus

I had not had a haircut since around June of this year and just recently got a haircut at Aveda Institute at the Vancouver Campus and my hair dresser was Jessica R. She was the most outstanding hair dresser I have ever gone to in my life, there was only one other hair dresser that comes close, but she was truly the best! She cut and styled my hair exactly the way I wanted it and made sure that it was the haircut I was looking for and that she actually understood what it was that I was looking for. She didn't even see all of my examples, I only gave her one example, but she hit every example.;) I had waited to get lairs for years and I am so glad that Jessica was the first one to give me lairs, she is extremely talented and knowledgeable!nnFor the first time in my life a hair dresser actually helped me and gave me ideas on how to deal with my curly hair! Jessica listened to every detail of what I was looking for and hit all of those goals and then to top it, she gave me tips on how I could reach those goals on my own at home! Most hair dressers have only attempted to help me by trying to get me to buy products but how Jessica helped me, I would gladly buy products and gladly trust her with my hair again. =DnnIt was also so amazing how for the first time in my life, a hair dresser was actually able to reach my goal of naturally curly, smooth, non-frizzy, with so much volume hair (volume is a new goal for me, I hadn't asked for this before, but again, Jessica nailed it!). Every hair dresser I have told that I wanted naturally curly hair that is smooth with no frizz has told me something to the effect of if not actually told me, wow, those are some pretty impossible goals you have. Well, I am so glad to announce Jessica made it possible! By the way, so do other YouTube girls, so it is possible as Jessica and YouTube girls show us. She was so knowledgeable it was so refreshing. =) I think it is just sad when I know how to handle my hair better than my hair dresser. Over all Jessica was amazing! =DnnIf you are wondering why I gave a four star rating, it is absolutely by no means because Jessica was below five stars. Let me just say this clearly,nnJessica R is definitely, absolutely 5 (five) stars! =D *****nnThe only reason I gave a star less than five is due to my experience with the lady over the phone that scheduled my appointment. My difficulty with the lady over the phone was she was her rudeness and the fact that she asked me and confirmed if I was getting a haircut and after I confirmed that, yes I was, I went to the Salon only to find out that I was not scheduled for a haircut and had to wait another hour before I could have a haircut. Again though Jessica was outstanding and amazing! Super talented! The front staff was also nice.

I love the Aveda Institute! The students in training to cut hair are awesome and come from all walks of life. Talking about what brought them to Aveda and where they hope to go next is half the fun. :D The music is great, and instructors are on hand every step of the way to check the student's work. I get great haircuts for under $20. :D

I was able to get in the same day I called. That in itself was awesome. I was lucky to get Kayla who did a fantastic job on my weave and how to care for my hair. I'm going back for a cut from her in January before she graduates. She's thorough, detail oriented with good insights. Thanks Kayla ud83dude0a

I had an amazing student, Kira Winchester. She was very knowledgeable about what she was doing and giving me advice on what she thought would look best on me. While working her magic on me, she was helping and answering questions for two other students with their models.
