It’s a small but wonderful collection that’s thoughtfully curated and feels highly relevant to the area. It’s a quiet environment, the shop inside is quite lovely, and the pieces are worth seeing. Admission is free on Sundays which is an exceptional bonus, but cheaply priced the rest of the week still. It takes roughly an hour to complete the whole walkthrough, a little longer if you plan to shop. The interior of the building itself is gorgeous as well.
Lovely place
Awesome experience! Very reasonable priced @ only $5. Very interesting paintings & art. Definitely worth every penny.
This gallery is better than we thought. It has a nice variety of art work. Worth a visit.
Morris Museum of Art is a beautiful space located in downtown Augusta. Admission is free on Sundays and is only $5 for adults Tuesday through Saturday. They are closed Mondays.nThere are about 12 galleries with a range of art including paintings, Glassworks and sculpture. Styles range from classical through impressionism to modern. Each work provides a limited history of the artist...sometimes only the birth/death date. This is probably where I think the museum falls short. There is no explanation of the art itself, its history, meaning, style or place. There used to be a tour available on Sundays but has been paused during Covid. There is no printed or audio guide available so one is left with a feeling of loss in not being able to relate fully to the art. I still would recommend going... if nothing else then to enjoy an inviting and calm space in an otherwise calamitous world.nP.S. Private tours may be available. I may update this review if I decide to book one.
