Beautiful building, although I found the inside to be a little empty. I wish they had more furniture from the period inside the house so it it would be easier to visualize. It was overall a pretty quick visit for us. There are a decent amount of stairs, so be aware if you have any mobility issues. Probably wouldn't hold interest for little kids either, but we enjoyed it.
Beautiful restoration done on this mansion. Staff was friendly. Signs were detailed. They have a bathroom for visitors.nnOnly things missing was a $1-$2 earbud “add-on” option for guests didn’t bring their own headphones. I could hear the audio tour from other’s visitor’s phone speaker while listening to my own tour audio in my headphones, on full blast. It was distracting because the other visitors were on a different part of the tour than me.nnAlso, they should add stickers to their merchandise - my husband collects stickers everywhere we go and he was sad that there was no sticker for him to buy. Overall a great place to see but just needs some fine tuning for travelers like me.
I loved it. It was a great time to go. Not crowded ,they have a guided tour with detailed information that downloads to your phone. Very historically accurate. And my favorite was the information on the slaves and then to see where and how they lived on that property. The team there has done a great work getting most of servants and former owners lives accounted for.
Very worth the visit! Highly recommend. The audio tour is worth the time (about 40 minutes). Loved learning about the history!
We enjoyed everything! It was very historical and educational. A must see for all history buffs in the area!
