Breakfast was horrendous. Do not come here if you even want a decent muffin in the morning. We were doing our best to leave on time. Had notified them that were running a little late getting out of the hotel and they said that was FINE! Left only 15 minutes late and were charged $82! They kept our deposit with no explanation as to why, and we did not damage anything in the room or leave a big mess! Will not be returning here. Were not notified we were going to be charged extra for anything. I've called the location over 10 times and either no one picks up or they say the manager is out! Very unhappy with the staff!

Sadly, I think the lady’s dog at the checking desk had died, because she was not in a good mood. Then we went into our room and I REALLY sure a dog died... in our room. The room stank like soiled rags. Housekeeping had cleaned the bathroom with OLD rags. We changed rooms and guess want... it still stank! So they cleaned the entire second floor with the same old rag. Slightly, no very gross. The cherry on top was that walking on the floor was like stepping on dried, spilled soda. Oh, and one more thing. The only elevator was broken, so I got a nice workout lifting bags up fire exit stairs. My back is going to hate me. It’s going to be a great night here! ud83dude10 (The rooms are new and well decorated, but the rags are definitely old.)

The COVID situation has left the place lacking in the usual amenities. On arrival we were told that there was no hot water. Good thing we didn't need to bathe. Also, no ice machines were working on our floor, we had to go two floors up for a working ice machine. The room was nice, but there was no guide to tell us what channels were what. Last but not least, when we arrived to our room there was a rug cleaning machine in the hall. It was still there the following morning when we left. Not the best stay we've ever had at Holiday Inn Express, but we got the rest we needed.

After the horrible time at the Downtown Holiday Inn, I decided to try the Holiday Inn Express and Suites across the intersection from the regular Holiday Inn. Unfortunately for me and anyone else who stays at these, they are owned and operated by the same people. It was obvious in the lack of concern for appearances and the lack of finishing touches throughout the property. From the paint bubbling and sloughing on the wall from water damage, to the door with no doorknob, the soda? spilled on the wall by my door and the damage to the door bottom (pictures) there is no care given for the property nor its appearances. Keep in mind that this facility was updated within the past 2 years as it has the new non-orange or green carpet that looks really nice. Unfortunately, when they updated it, they went cheap and did not hire qualified people (or did not give them the money or time to correct the many issues). On the frame of the metal door, there is a gap between the edges of a quarter inch or more where they just did not meet up. Shoddy cuts and lack of quality oversight. The shelves in the shower appear to be falling off the wall (pictures) as their is a crack in the seam holding it to the wall.nnFor the things you want to know about ahead of time, this facility is built right next to an interstate overpass and a train yard so you get to hear a lot of traffic and trains at all hours of the day and night. Fun. They did not update the air conditioners but at least it does not blow straight on the bed making everyone hot and then cold and then hot and then cold.nnOn the plus side, the staff appear both over worked and friendly. I will update this if anything changes or needs further clarification but for now, solid 4 stars if you overlook the shoddy work done on the building.nnUpdate:. They had no hot water and knew this when I checked in but choose not to tell me. When I called at 1030pm they said there was no hot water problem. Turns out they had plumbers entire week before and knew they had no hot water when I checked in. I cannot recommend either holiday inn or holiday inn express in downtown shreveport. If the same management had any other properties I recommend avoiding them too.

I would chose 0 out of 5 if that were possible.nnHad a reservation for a room for a business trip standing for a bit more than a month. I was travelling from a work site in Alabama to my home back in Texas and my company mandates a maximum of 8 hours driving per day. Shreveport was right at 8 hours away from the worksite, so I chose this Holiday Inn Express. When I rolled into the parking lot after 8 hours of driving I found out that the hotel was completely empty, lobby lights on but doors locked. I banged on the door, but no one was there. From the parking lot I tried calling the hotel's local number, it rang with no pick ups. I called the IGH Rewards customer service number and the operator tried calling the same local number and basically said they couldn't do anything else for me since the Guest Relations office had already closed. Couldn't really confirm that the hotel was closed. Couldn't cancel my reservation for a hotel that was not open. Couldn't help me find another room somewhere in town. Nothing. It was about 8:30pm, raining, and I was left in the lurch. I tried a couple other numbers in town, but couldn't find another hotel at per diem, so I went ahead and drove another 4 1/2 hours home.nnThe next morning, I called Guest Relations. I explained everything again. They also tried to contact the Shreveport HIE, and was able it confirm that it was closed due to Covid. I can understand that services might get suspended or limited due to the pandemic, but not cancelling standing reservations or letting those holding them know they weren't open is pretty negligent. The Guest Relations person was able to confirm that they would put in for my reservation be cancelled out when the hotel reopened on Oct 15th and the deposit would returned to me withing 90 days following that. Are you kidding? IHG is incapable of taking care of customers on a timeframe of less than 3 months?nnI am very unsatisfied with the Shreveport Holiday Inn Express specifically and the IHG Customer Service/Guest Relations in general. I am doubtful of any continued relations.
