In going through the process of trying to and eventually selling my home I learned that everyone has their own reasons for wanting to part with a property. My story starts in 1984 when my mother and her father my grandfather purchased a home together at Jacksonville Beach. One of the reasons I decided it was time to think about parting with the property was due to the facts my grandfather and mother passed in 1997 and 2009. I found myself living alone on the property with virtually no other support. As the years went by my challenges included vocational retraining, starting a new career, and dealing with a continuing increase in cost in terms of insurance, maintenance, and property taxes. In 2018 I decided the pressures of maintaining the property, my advancing age, and a strong housing market were good enough motivators to explore a sale even though it was a very difficult decision for me to make as I loved the home. Before randomly selecting a realtor, I decided the best way to go about it was to find the top 10 realtors in the state and read about them. This is where Jean Pickett of Re/Max came into the picture. I read Jean's profile and noted that she had an office at Jacksonville Beach which was desirable. Jean had received acknowledgement from her peers in the industry and had high praise in the reviews available from buyers and sellers she previously worked with. We listed my property 1/1/2019 and we did receive offers but they were well short of my asking price. Jean was very supportive during this process and after reviewing the offers she agreed the offers were too low for my property based in the size of the home and the lot. I was discouraged at the time and felt stymied as well as the fact Jean had spent her financial and emotional equity on my home. After almost another two years past, I decided to take another shot at making the sale. I contacted Jean who quickly sprang into action. I had made many renovations over the past two years and Jean had to have a photographer snap all new pictures of the home. Within a couple of weeks we listed the home on my birthday which is on Saint Patrick's Day. By the end of the first day I had three cash offers all within the price range I was seeking. We came to a quick agreement with a buyer over the upcoming weekend and signed the initial sales documents. There were a few hiccups during this period which were very upsetting to me personally but Jean and her legal team were with me everyday lending support, addressing my concerns, and finally curing all of those proverbial hiccups. We closed on the sale two weeks later which was amazing to say the least. I can't say enough nice things about Jean's demeanor, insight into the industry, and knowing that I had a true advocate when going through the entire sales process. I can only speak for myself, but I felt like Jean had perform a miracle for me, and I will be forever grateful for her sticking with me through a very difficult time. If I ever decide to buy another home my first call will be to Jean Pickett!
