The Chesapeake Retirement Community is a very nice facility for independent living. If you show any signs of needing assistance, they are quick to have a Licenced Social Worker evaluate your abilities to determine if you can remain in Independent Care. If you don't pass the test, then guess what, you go to the Assisted Living Ward, without choice, or to the Locked-Up Memory Care Ward, again with no choice. Or, you can leave after you have already Purchased a Care Plan to End of Life. Once in Memory Care, if you need Nursing Care, you are required to Hire your own Nurse Staff Companion. This is costs more the the Life Care Plan Buy In. Expect a 300%, or more additional expense.nIf you purchase the Life Care Plan and you still need to pay for the Nursing Care, then why even sign up for the Chesapeake Retirment Community.nNot worth the money. Better to stay at home and hire and manage your own Nursing Staff.

If I could give zero stars I would. The care received is truly lacked. The room my father was in was so cold, the nurses would come in wearing heavy winter coats but said the chill was good for my dad’s breathing. This is just one of many examples showcasing their incompetence and skill that my father received and what caused him to become even sicker while in their care.

I know several residents of the Chesapeake and they love it. But when the mother of a close friend had to go there for rehabilitation after an illness, I was very impressed. My father in law had to stay a couple of months in another facility in NC and while the staff was friendly and helpful, the Chesapeake's decor and atmosphere is so much better! Everyone we spoke with was smiling and very professional. I believe both environment and helpful staff are critical to the healing and well being of the residents.

Our parents moved to the Chesapeake 14 years ago, and have progressed from Independent, to Assisted Living to Health Care. The facility is just 1-1/2 miles from a world class hospital, so event when dad had an emergency and needed major surgery on New Years Eve, the outcome was more successful -- for him at age 93 -- than others who have that surgery at a much younger age. It didn't hurt that the Chesapeake had a relationship with a world class rehabilitation facility where he stayed until his return to the Chesapeake. Over the last 14 years, the Chesapeake has not only met their contractual requirements to our family, their wonderful staff has far, far, exceeded them. It's been such a good experience, that we're planning to move in after we retire !

Poor management and incompetent nurses. Short staffed. Lots of patient injury and theft. Extremely valuable tools missing without being foundResidence inn need additional help are being held Rizes lost staff him in to search for them. It looks nice on the outside but it’s poorly staffed for management for structure not a safe environment for the elderly.
