Bountiful Police Department

I had a flat tire, called the bountiful police for help and an amazing officer came almost immediately to help I didn’t get his name, but I appreciate the help 😊😊😊😂

I have always been very pro police and consider myself to be a fairly conservative person, but after what happened to my son last night I feel I MUST speak up and spread the word about the Bountiful police department. My son is 17. He has a nervous tick and a very SLIGHT speech impediment. Last night he asked if, before he came home he could go to grab some food at In and Out. It was late, but I wanted some fries so I said sure! Bring me some fries! My son and his friend who was driving him, were almost home when they were suddenly pulled over. By the time the police officer made it to the side window, there were TWO more cop cars that came and boxed the car in, as if they were going to try to flee or something. It was around 12:45-1:00 am. They informed my son and his friend that the license plate light was out,( this was a lie, I looked at it myself after) they then told my son it was past curfew. My son told them that his mother knew where he was at and he was almost to his house. The police officer then told my son that he thought he was drunk and made him get out of the car! They asked my sons friend if my son was mentally handicapped!!! All because of a speech impediment! My son told one police officer to call his mother, no one did call me. But they did perform a breathalyzer on my minor son. Which of course came back as ZERO!! This took about 20 minutes in all. By the time my son got home I was frantic. I didn’t know what had happened to home to make him late. This kind of harassment is not acceptable. Unfortunately, my son was too nervous to get the names of the police officers. I am so happy that our hard earned tax dollars are being spent on THREE cop cars pulling over innocent people and harassing minors. I hope that the police department reads these reviews. They should be ashamed of themselves!!!!

Had to call 911 due to a person trying to burglarize my garage in the middle of the night. Not only did they respond very quickly, they had another unit watch the on ramp for their vehicle and arrested the individual and the driver of their car. They were awesome to deal with and am very thankful they risk their lives to keep all of us safe in Bountiful!!

Overall I have liked BPD, but they could use some improvement. When my son took off they were fairly quick to respond, and the officer I spoke with was definitely one of the good guys. He kept me informed as to what progress was being made, and genuinely seemed to care about my son. I was pleased with that experience. However, I've also encountered officers who clearly joined the force for their ego and not to serve the public. I came across one today as a matter of fact. Here's the thing, putting on a uniform and badge doesn't automatically mean you have or deserve respect. While most freely give respect to officers, if someone stops to ask an officer a question and said officer responds with attitude and hostility, the person with the question is unlikely to have much respect left for said officer. This was my experience today, and it left me with a very sour taste in my mouth. My dad, Uncle and Aunt were all cops. One can be a good, effective officer without keeping a chip on ones shoulder. Perhaps that's something BPD can work on with their officers. Thanks for your service guys and gals! Happy Holidays!

I had some kids hit my building with some graffiti. They sent an officer over pretty quickly, who, using some info that I had, tracked down the kids that had done it. He talked to the kids and their parents that same afternoon. Thanks for the service, guys!
