Visited with a 17 and 12 year old. It was awesome to be able to walk through the dwellings and get up close and personal with them. The informational placards along the way we're great. The Museum and Gift Shop are also worth the visit. There's probably 60-90 min worth exploring. Between walking through the cliff and walking through the gift shop/museum. Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods are both very close and it's very doable to hit all 3 in one day.
Visited 3/24/21 for the boys 1st Colorado trip. As a above the knee amputee with a prosthetic leg it was not difficult to fully enjoy all they had to offer! We enjoyed the self guided tour and also found it very educational for our boys. The gift shop was also full of interesting things. Staff was very nice and helpful.nWe will be bringing the boys back for a summer trip to enjoy all the area has to offer.
Very fun stop, on our way out of Colorado. We heard it was dog friendly, and it lived up to the reputation. Our Husky had a blast, walking through the structures. And I have to say, the gift shop game was strong. Come prepared to spend a decent amount of money, but if you’re looking for a one-stop-shop for Colorado souvenirs, this is the place. Massive multi-level gift shop with an enormous selection.
We visited the dwellings precovid, and are so glad to hear it has been reopened. I understand they are using mask and social distancing, which is great and also taking each entrants number for contact tracing, which is also great. The park is so grand if you are into ancient cultures and it has been so well preserved. It looks as if one could move in and set up for living, as though it had just been built. The tour then wasn't rushed and we were able to take it all in. My hopes is that hasn't changed for our planned trip back there. The overlook down into it is just breathtakingly beautiful and it gives you the sense, if you just take the time and with imagination, the once lives that the canyon walls shielded in their protection and what it must have been like for its daily travels in and out of there. So grand and I cannot wait to get there for another visit. My name is Roger Browning and I am a writer. My book now out on amazon, is a story of family inheritance gone wrong. That of dysfunction and greed and is set that of a modern day ranch in Texas, and is titled, 'The Reckoning of Rance.'
I absolutely loved going through the outdoor museum portion while listening to the audio guided tour they have available online. It was chilly so it was beneficial to keep moving. Learned a lot!! This is a very good place to visit with the whole family and is a very educational experience.nI also have a sneaking suspicion that the gift shop is larger than the entire outdoor museum exhibit, as we spent significantly more time being lost in there than in the museums outside!ud83dude02ud83dudc4d It does, however, have many more interesting exhibits in there as well, so definitely stop in. It's also good to duck in there to get away from the cold!
