Great place to visit. The drive up is spectacular and the vistas are amazing! Very picturesque town with lots of friendly locals that invite you in. Photos taken during recent research trip for my novels, Hawthorn Lake, Siege at Hawthorn Lake and Hawthorn Lake - Reprisal. Check em out on Amazon
What a neat attraction! If you're interested in old west history, you need to check out this trip. The train ride itself was around 45 minutes long, but it was a beautiful ride with lots of interesting historical information about the old mines of Cripple Creek and the town itself. It's about an hours ride from Colorado Springs. But totally worth the trip!

It's a cute, slow and steady ride. The key word is slow, you won't be travelling at full speed but that is fine. My favorite part is stopping and the train blows it's horn, sending an echo into the canyon.
Saw elk and it was a cute little train ride. The conducter was a local and new a lot about the town. Short ride, they stop few times along the way. Would go again
