Counselor wasn’t a good fit for me, but they resolved a billing issue for me in a timely manner and offered to help find me another counselor.

I had a great experience here.

Scheduling has been good appointments have been helpful with anxiety and depression. There are allot of negative reviews here yet when I have gone in people do seem to be honestly trying to help people. I try to remember that people with a negative outlook on most everything also have a high probability for anxiety and depression so if you are about to write another negative review you might try calling to see if you can talk with someone about your complaint first.

My therapist was great and I was making great progress on my anxiety UNTIL I got my insurance statement.nnI’m up at 4am this morning with anxiety. Sadly my anxiety this time has been triggered by their billing practices! Went to get therapy for my anxiety through my local Mind Springs facility. I’d been there previously and it was a $35 office copay just like seeing my regular doctor or a specialist. That made it very reasonable and accessible for me. Like most people in the areas where Mind Springs has offices there is a high cost of living so I can’t afford to pay $100+ per session to see a provider that doesn’t take my insurance.nnI called billing after my second visit since I had yet to pay the copay at the time of service and I was concerned. Told them that previously I’d paid $35 as an office visit at the time of service and wondered if I could expect to pay the same this time. They said if it was billed as an office visit that would probably be the case this time too. I also called my insurance and they assured me that if it was coded as an office visit that they would cover it and I would only be responsible for the $35 office copay.nnSo imagine my surprise when I get a statement from my insurance saying I can be billed $88 for my intake visit, which counts against my deductible (like most people my deductible is fairly high so that’s a drop in the bucket), instead of the $35 copay I expected based on my previous experience with Mind Springs as well as talking to two different billing people AND my own insurance. So I called billing again and this time was told that that’s just how they bill now.nnIf they knew that was the case then why was that NOT what I was told when I first called?! Was I intentionally lied to in order to keep me coming in for service? And if I could be billed as an office visit with a copay previously then WHY can’t I be billed the same way now?! These billing practices are not only deceiving but they actively reduce access to mental health services! Not only that but they have actually made my anxiety WORSE rather than better! How can an organization that claims to be in the business of mental health practice billing and coding that actively contributes to financial distress for people already struggling?! You can’t claim to value mental health care if you are actively limiting access to care and when seeking their services causes financial distress for people already stressed.

The worst!! ud83dude21 I got a referral for my 15 year d daughter for Mindspring. MindSpring contacted my husband regarding the appointment and my husband never wrote it down. When I contacted MindSpring to confirm my daughters appointment they refused to give it to me. They claim that my daughter is 15 years old and old enough to make her own decisions and therefore they will not release any information to me - her mother. They said that my daughter has to get on the phone herself (except my daughter refuse to be on the phone with anybody- even her parents). This was one of the reasons we were visiting MindSpring in the first place. ud83dude21 Absolutely ridiculous! I am her mother for Gods sake! Plus she is only 15, not 18! Super disappointed ud83dude1e Apparently they care more about their rules than the patient. My daughter could have gotten help by now but now I gotta find another place that doesn’t have these ridiculous rules so I can find the help my daughter needs! Oh, and this office doesn’t even call to “confirm” appointments!!
