Subway

Let me first start by saying I have ordered from this subway literally hundreds of times over the years. Lately, I’ve discovered the Subway iPhone app that makes it a breeze to order the same sandwich with the same ingredients, made the same way. Ninety five percent of the time I order a foot long veggie with 2x the veggies. With the push of one button I can order this “favorite” sandwich exactly the same way each time.nnSo, with the ingredients, the condiments, the bread, all now delineated, one would think the sandwich would be consistently good. One would think... The problem is the one variable that plays such a significant role in how the sandwich turns out, despite the explicit instructions afforded by the app, is the one variable you have no control over... the person who puts all of these ingredients together to produce the sandwich.nnIt’s gotten to the point where I can simply pick up the sandwich off the counter and tell you how well it was made. Some days I wonder if inside the wrapper is there anything but a piece of bread. Other days I pick it up and smile knowing that’s a great sandwich! Staff is always friendly but let’s face it, if I get to my car, open the wrapper and say to myself, “you have to be kidding me... is this an air sandwich” it just makes you wonder. Gone are the days of the $5 dollar foot long (single sandwich) or the super value $4 wrap. There are many alternatives in town to grab a quick bite in the $7 to $9 dollar range. I get the need to watch costs but when one day it’s a great sandwich and another day, depending on who makes it, is is clearly lacking, lunch shouldn’t have to be a game of Russian Roulette.

Good food, good staff though some staff is better than others.
