We have struggled greatly with this Elementary School and the administration. The size of the student body is overwhelming and it should be divided into a minimum of at least two different elementary schools. The staff is completely overwhelmed at all times. The administration is understaffed with a single principal and one assistant principal there should be a minimum of at least 3 or 4 intern principles. The district has seen fit to put too many portable units on the property making it unsafe for students in extreme weather conditions. When trying to have activities where families are invited or parents are invited fire codes are frequently ignored as people are crammed into the school in overwhelming numbers. During the last school lockdown drill I went to pick up my child who was throwing up I was met by the assistant principal at the front door and instead of having the front doors locked and guarded one of the front doors is permanently held open with velcro straps so that it can never be locked even in the event of a lockdown.

We had 2 daughters that went to this school. Our oldest ended up not going for most of the 2nd semester because she was bullied and the teacher didn't really do anything. She developed anxiety from this. Plus. they mainly focused on math. She said they barely did anything else and if they did, it was not more than 15 minutes and they only did 1 or 2 subjects maybe a handful of times throughout the year. Our second is now in 6th grade and though a differ teacher, she said it's the same thing. Primarily math and barely do anything else. They have done other assignments in other subjects but she said the teacher quickly goes through it and goes back to math. We ended up switching her to online school for 2nd semester to make sure learns. When our daughters went to South Clearfield Elem, their reading, writing, nad all other levels were where they were to be and some even higher than what they should be for that level. When they switched, everyone, even relatives and their friends, had noticed that the way they speak and not knowing how to spell words for their level has gone down. One of their friends even commented how they went from needing a dictionary on some of the words to now where they speak as three years old. The school or teachers seem to focus too much on math but not on other things.
