Fantastic trout fishing. I would highly recommend. You can also check the power generation schedule ahead of time to make sure when they will have the generators and turbines running (subject to change of course) and during that time the water starts flowing pretty heavy making it difficult to fish.

Beautiful place to put in or take out your boat. On the discharge side you can appreciate the magnitude of the earthen dam and fish at the spillway. Only down side is their are no rest room facilities and you have to go clean into one of the towns to find one.

Great place to fish for trout! Really the only place in Alabama, that's worth it. Recently Gadsden started a trout fishing program at Naccallula Falls, but costs money and mostly catch and release.nSipsey Fork below the Lewis Smith dam is free with an Alabama fishing license... and the trout are awesome! Might not catch the limit, but quality fish and a great time spent all day fishing! In the summer if your hot, just wade in a bit and you'll be ice cold! Or if you dare, submerge yourself! Totally refreshing if you can handle it!nThe fishing supply store at the beginning of the road is great. They'll show you what you need, whether your fly fishing or using regular poles!

Interesting, but not really anything here to do. I'm not sure if you can fish here or not, but you would need a pretty sturdy rod to hoist the fish 10-20 feet out of the water. There is an area for a picnic. Doesn't seem to practical, but, to each his own.

Really cool place to see. Hard to believe that the dam us responsible for holding back that much water...
