I love Dorchester Paws. All my pups have come from them. Staff is friendly and welcoming to volunteers. You can pick your task. Clean, organize, take a dog on a much needed walk, or just spend time playing with a dog or a puppy, and nothing beats puppy breath! Foster program is great. I've gotten to help a few dogs find their fur-ever homes.
Needed a puppy and they had 3 available. Cages were clean an they had 6 puppy play areas to get to know the puppy. The puppy were up-to-date on shots and fixed. The puppy was micro chip. 10 day health guarantee. All for 350.00 I look at flea market and they were 800 and local pet store and started at 4k to 10k. So I am happy with my choice.
Very poor customer service. Had to call 8 times to get a hold of someone to schedule an appointment, then the appointment was for 3 weeks later (not a biggie). But I discussed everything about our dog we were planning to surrender to them and they said no problem we will see you for an interview. Get there today, discussed everything, and then as I bring my dog in who is scared and not barking or anything they tell me they can't take her and don't know what I should do.. Very disappointed in my visit. They seem clean and I could understand their motives if they would have just explained to me on the phone earlier. We have a growing daughter and our dog is very protective. We are military and move a lot and just worried what could happen.
I went to get help with some food I've been out of work and having a hard time feeding my animals. They gave one big bag but when I opened it it was stale and old and I tried to see if cats would eat it but they would not touch it.
Kind and supportive staff. I encourage everyone who loves animals to donate and/or volunteer to Dorchester Paws or any organization near you to help them care for those loving creatures.
