Ace Hardware of Dade City

Went here for a few items last week so I could mount a TV and spent about 30 minutes with no help. At checkout had a very nice employee which is why this will get 2 stars. I asked her if I could return an item or two if I don’t end up using it and she said of course as long as the packaging isn’t messed up. I arrived back a few days later to return an item I did not use and an item that didn’t work for me and the dude at checkout asked why I was returning it and said “This isn’t a tool rental program” and started acting like a little girl throwing a fit. I kept my cool and ignored his behavior but he continued to act with short temper. He issued the refund (hence the 2 stars) but I did not ask for this grown man to throw a fit like a child that doesn’t get what they want. As I was leaving the guy then began to show more acts of frustration by throwing the returned item on the ground. I did not ask or expect this type of service by a grown man in his 50s or 60s acting like a high school girl. Now I will drive the extra few minutes to go to Lowes where customer service is far better. Hopefully he sees this and reevaluates his actions because next time it could be someone that is not as patient as I am.

I needed a new mail box, so I suggested we stop at ACE, instead of traveling to Lowe’s.nI saw the style of mail box I wanted on the under shelf. I reached up to get it and the bottom of the box was open and the pieces start sliding out. Once the box was on the floor. I started rearrange the pieces so I could shut the flaps on the box bottom, ( please note the top was not sealed either .nA man, can’t call him a gentleman because he was anything but that. Now remember I stated I took the mail box I wanted off the shelf. That mail box was purchased and returned. The directions were stapled to the top flap, that did not come from the factory like that. ( I know because I bought the same mail box elsewhere). In addition the box was no secured close. So this man comes around the corner after 15 minutes of me getting the pieces organized. He stands at the top of the isle and yells “your buying that now aren’t you.” Now excuses me, I walked by 3 men working in this store, no one spoke to me. I started at far end of the store and worked my way to the mail boxes. I was so mad, how dare you yell at me, when you stick a 3 foot box on a shelf and do not seal the flaps. My husband took my hand and we walked out. I was going to buy it, and I did buy it just not from you. We just used Amazon it did cost more. But the point is that’s not how you treat a customer, even if you don’t like what they are doing or think they are doing. I normally buy a lot of things there I like fun stuff. I love the Green Egg stuff. But I personally will never buy anything again at ACE Hardware. This day and age treat people with Kindness.

Friendly staff however I am accustomed in having those working the floor to have some working knowledge in plumbing electrician etc. type fields to respond to questions and to ensure what i need is the right choice. I have yet noted that there. It may be a sign of what to expect in future Ace Hardware stores who knows. For me who always has projects going on unless i need something simple like a washer or pvc fitting i drive the extra mile to Lowes its less expensive and their people have working knowledge and can get you to what you need.

Very nice store. Associates were all very helpful. I found everything that I needed.
