We picked a great day to come (again) 70, sunny, a breeze. We love that there is now a snack bar by the bathrooms in the park. Masks required and the one school group complied (as did everyone else) The whole center is a testament to one person's determination and perseverance and it continues to grow and thrive! The kids enjoyed the passbooks and whoever thought of the brass rubbings is a genius! As usual when we visit, the parakeet enclosure was a favorite!

This is a wonderful bird park out in the country. A little over an hour from Suffolk VA. The East African crown crane was our favorite. He has beautiful plumage and a very unusual and attractive crown. He followed us up and down the fence line and spread his wings frequently.nnThe landing zone is a lot of fun. Be sure to buy the feeding stick and food for the flamingos. Be prepared for the birds to eat out of your hand.nnThere are many colorful varieties of birds. We arrived around 10:00 when the birds were active and being fed. When we returned after lunch many of the birds were sleeping. So arriving early is a good idea.nnThere are clean restrooms and many picnic areas along with a nice children’s play area. They are expanding their viewing areas which will be nice for the future.

Had an amazing time at Sylvan, staff was great and friendly and they have such a variety of different birds I could spend all day there! Park isn't too big but if your a bird lover like myself you'll need more than one day specially if your taking photos. Will definitely be back!

This bird park is a lot of fun. There are a lot of areas to explore and there are many different species of birds to see. There's a playground, a cafe, nature trails, and a nature blind. The best part though is the little aviary where you get to feed flamingoes and little parakeets and a few other species of birds. You can buy pellets or seed sticks and the birds will swarm all over you for food. They are a little nippy at time (especially if you have zippers, buttons, or shoelaces) but they aren't mean or anything. They land on your head, shoulders, arms, back, feet, it's really fun and funny. Overall we really like this park and it is a unique place to stop and visit every once in a while.

Wonderful park. Highly recommend. I will be back. I loved the variety of birds and the layout. You can be there for hours or all day!
