Michel's at the Colony Surf

Food and service were very good. Not that I could detect anything French other than escargots. I would call it pan-Asian with good ingredients and a good taste of mixing flavors.nThis is not a romantic place (we came for our anniversary) and the entrance way from the street is positively off-putting. Most of the beach-front hotels in Waikiki offer the same view and many a similar menu. The only advantage of Michel's is that the tiny beach is not crowded with noisy strollers but only a few residents of the apartment complex that Michel's is part of.

Spectacularly over priced for what you get. For 2 people this meal may have been worth $150. Maybe $200 to pay for the view. But topping in at over $500 for dinner for 2, I expected a lot more. The service was great but very slow and often not around when needed. All 6 courses of the food tasted like under-seasoned Trader Joe's prepared and frozen meals with the exception of the Ceasar Salad. It was all good and competent, just not inspiring in any way. I have had MUCH better $200 meals in just about every state. This didn't remotely compare to those, and at 3x the price. Totally not worth it.

It is a beautiful memories for us.nA Japanese guest at Sheraton Waikiki let me know the sunset dinner here is the best in the Island.nIt costs a lot, but most Japanese seldom afford to be in this heaven-like island. You will never forget this restaurant. Just go and fell it!

We loved everything about Michele's. The food was elegant, creative and delicious. The view gorgeous and the service impeccable. The best part of our trip to Hawaii. Excellent in every way!

Awesome atmosphere - open air dining room by the seaside. Great service, tremendous food, wonderful drinks. It is expensive but certainly a place for a special night out.
