As if it wasn't heartbreaking enough to see my favorite p ppl ace in the world be rundown and closing. The attendees at the stables were incredibly rude.nnThis place should be run by better people.nnCollectively we can all improve on being more considerate and respectful of eachother. Great history!
Yes. Parts of the property is in need of repairs .But if you were 144 year old and had as many people stay in you I think you would look a little rough in spots . It would be nice to see someone with some money to back the restoration of the property. Or even the main Lodge and some of the cabins. But the Elkhorn has been a special place for my family and I have some great memories of our time spent there. And yes it's haunted and Elenore is watching over her Elkhorn lodge. Don't upset her she can haunt you where you live.
Went on a winter trail ride at the Elkhorn Stables and it was wonderful! The horses seemed very well cared for and our guide was talkative, and knowledgeable about the scenery we saw from the trail. There was a great view from the top of the trail, where we got a photo with our horses. The ranch is just outside of the hustle and bustle of Estes, but not too far of a drive. Highly recommend for an afternoon activity during your trip - even in the snow!
We didn't stay there, but my daughter and I went on a 60 minute horseback ride and had a lot of fun. Our guide was very friendly, funny and informative. The horses appeared well cared for and the ride was fun. We were treated very well from the time we checked in for the ride to the time we left. We would definitely go back.
