Have tried to contact the sheriff in numerous ways.......no email and the non-emergency phone number gives no better results.

Kind of curious as to what they're doing grocery shopping in Bozeman Montana???.........

First time car owner and I couldn't afford registration because I'm a student but officer let me drive back home instead of getting me towed, and he followed me so I wouldn't get bothered by someone less nice.

Officer who gave me the citation was incredibly nice. Phone support was not very helpful but whatever.

I brought my snowmobile to 2 mile hi ski Doo in Leadville, co for service. When I went back to pick it up the owner told me someone showed up and said they knew me and I would be back to pay for the sled another time. At that point the owner released my sled to an unknown party without payment or any type of paperwork. He didn’t even call me when some random person was loading my sled up and stealing it. When I called the sheriff office and pretty much begged them to come there while I was there but they are just too busy! Lol. The Sheriff office at first wouldn’t even take my case saying there wasn’t enough evidence. After an hr a got a phone call back from sheriff saying who I spoke too was in training and they don’t gave a clue. Wow, such confidence in each other. This different sheriff now says that this doesn’t seem right and they want more info. I provided them with a statement and also a witness statement after explaining the story. They told me they were going to investigate... I should’ve known better. About 3 wks later I finally get a call back after calling and trying to talk to people but my phone calls kept getting screened. The sheriff calling wasn’t the one handling the case. Long story short the sheriff tells me the owner has been dodging his phone calls and every time they went there he wasn’t. So I get the over 3 wk phone call saying they finally talked to him.. this is on a Monday night I add. The shop this gentleman works for is closed Sunday and Monday so it’s kind of interesting to get a call from sheriff when his establishment has been closed for 2 days. So honestly I don’t think they even physically talked to him in person. Even though the owner at 2 mile hi ski Doo admitted that he gave my sled to someone who wasn’t me and never even at least called me is getting off Scott free! The sheriff is telling me it’s my word against his and that he needs more information from me. When I asked how that information would help my case the officer shouted at me and said “ your not going to help”. It was him trying to get me to give up. And the saddest part is that the sheriffs have been treating me like a child and always trying to take all matters off their hands. I feel as if my situation was swept under the rug. How could someone just give a snowmobile away and have zero documentation?! How can the sheriffs not put any pressure on the owner who gave my sled away with any paper trail including asking for money. I called the newspaper and they were intrigued by my story. Asking me how they have handled this and felt bad for me but still not a whole lot they can do. My only option now is to pay a corrupt lawyer an unknown amount to try and get justice. Thank you Lake county for no Craps given. My advice to all you seeking help from Lake County video and audio record every conversation and interaction. Do the best you can to handle yourselves under bad circumstances because the sheriffs will not be there for you. So disappointed and of course out a snowmobile. Ya the one that just vanished after it was serviced. Goes to show if you have the right liar excuses you’ll get off no prob... but also shame on the sheriff office for not helping a positive community member.
