I had an uncomfortable experience here because my hair dresser insisted on having a political discussion during my cut, despite my several requests not to. I told her I didn’t wish to discuss politics (because I could tell right away our views didn’t align and she wanted a debate) and I’d rather avoid the conflict. I felt cornered and very uncomfortable when she pressed on. This isn’t the first time she’s gone on a political rant that made me feel uncomfortable . I tried to just remain silent. Anyway, let’s say I wasn’t invited to re-schedule for my next cut after I asked her if we could do so without further political discussions. She said she couldn’t agree. After regular scheduling every 6 weeks for the past 5 years, I was hurt by that. She gives great cuts and we’ve gotten along well so I am bummed it went down this way. I was also hurt to hear she had related our encounter to another client (from a friend who happened to be in the salon and overheard her that very same day). It all felt pretty unprofessional. As a customer, I just want to come get a haircut and leave with no undue anxiety . A customer should be given respect. I am paying for the service, after all. She did message me the next day and appologize for any ackwardness she may have caused, but didn’t offer to keep cutting my hair. I guess with such an awkward encounter, I wouldn’t have wanted to risk going back for another anyhow. Five stars for the cut, 1 star for the very uncomfortable encounter and feeling unwelcome to return. Addendum: After she saw this review 6 weeks later and was upset over it , she started texting me about it. I was pretty surprised . I didn’t reply bc I don’t want the conflict or awkwardness again. i know she’s a nice person and it’s an unsettling time for all of us with all the discord and divisiveness in our country. I try hard to get along with everyone despite differences so part of me regrets placing this review initially for those reasons alone. My only hope for this review is to save other clients from the awkward position I was put in. Wether if it’s an employee or a client who reads it, hopefully a lesson can be learned here.
