Was a interesting stop on the way to Duluth from Saint Paul. Lots of stuff to look at. Full of history.

The Hinckley Fire Museum is an absolute treat. Driving interstate 35 there’s an official highway sign referencing. For years I’ve seen that sign without stopping. It’s amazing. $5 cover gets you into the gift shop and museum. The focal point of the museum is a short documentary about the fire which is dated but perfectly adds to the feel of the place. The person running the place was in full railroad attire and incredibly helpful and kind. Carl was great. The museum has a few artifacts of the era, some living quarters decorated for the time, and a great gift shop. If you’re going with a sense of adventure and charm you’ll be thrilled.

Very nice, small museum that does a great job of teaching about the fire of 1894 which took over 400 lives in Hinckley. The volunteers are very educated and welcoming. This is a fun stop and when you are done if you go to see the monument, there is a flea market right to it.

Amazing to see the heroism of people giving their lives for others and how many lives were saved as a result! Tragic but interesting piece of history. And also how from the ashes, a new city with a new way of doing life arose.

Being from the area, I thought I was familiar with the area and fire history. I've learned something new each time I stopped. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly too.
