The Olson House is a national historic landmark not to be missed while in central coastal Maine. The house is closed for tours this year and is not wheelchair accessible. This house was the backdrop for several pieces of work by Andrew Wyeth. The most famous is Christina’s World. Wyeth befriended the Olsons’ and was allowed to roam the house and used a room as a studio from 1939 to 1968.

I am happy I made the effort to drive there to see it while we were in Maine even though we could not go inside. Its in a beautiful setting.

Really cool place to check out if your in Maine. The graveyard was spooky and you can tell its really old. Wasn't able to see inside but definitely worth the trip!

Always lovely. Visited Andrew Wyeth and Christine Olson's graves. They are just a short walk down the hill.

A very poignant tour given by a wonderful docent. I don’t recall her name - Nancy(?). A retired school teacher, who had a feel for the history of the house and the generations of Hathornes who built and lived there. I was inspired to read “a piece of the world” by Christina Baker Kline which added to the story. It is beautiful place and the book gave touching insights into Andrew and Betsy Wyeth.
