Have had two girls in this school for the last five years. We love Jefferson Academy and Nicole Jones who is the principle is doing a great job! The school has always worked with us on anything my daughters have needed. We love the curriculum that gets taught and the individual testing. My girls are doing math a year ahead and are years ahead on their reading! Thanks JA
I'm a grandparent of Jefferson Academy students. I am constantly amazed by the incredible things they share with me whenever I get to see them. They are so happy in their school, speak very fondly of their teachers and principal, and are able to really talk about their learning with me! When I ask them about what they're doing in school, they tell me about their STEM projects, the leveled math and reading classes they're in, their amazing playground and other special classes they get to take and just how much they love all the staff and their friends. I'd like to thank Jefferson's principal, teachers, and support staff for providing such a nurturing and loving environment for my grandkids to learn in. It's a beautiful school, and I love to go and visit and watch them in their programs. I hope they get to keep attending for their whole elementary career!
This school is fantastic. I have been working here for 5 years and absolutely love the school's environment. Honestly, my commute here is super long and I have thought about working at a closer school, but I will brave the commute to work here! The director is incredibly positive and organized, providing us with all the resources we need. I am constantly impressed how she really talks and connects with students. The other teachers are so creative and supportive, providing safe and caring classroom communities. The students are enthusiastic and well cared for. If I had children, I would choose to send them to this school!
I have loved this school and have been very grateful to the many teachers and aides that have worked to make this a wonderful experience for my boys. I enrolled my oldest after a very difficult kindergarten and worse 1st grade experience in public school. His has mild autism and had behavior issues that the public school immediately shunted to a learning center. The troubling behavior dramatically increased. I needed to move him and put into any public school lotteries. We were pulled for Jefferson.
From day one, Mrs. Foreman (the SPED Director) worked tirelessly with me as well as Mrs. Ricks (the school counselor and psychologist) along with the team of teachers until we found the system that works. Years later and it has been a night and day difference! He is doing excellent and progressing along.
My youngest has been doing great since he started. He was behind (my late August boy) and they again have pooled their resources to help him.
I have seen how much these teachers love their students and I am grateful for their sacrifices on behalf of my kids. It is sometimes a thankless job.
I have to agree with the negative and positive reviews.
Bullying is an issue. There are definitely groups of kids that get away with harassment and blatant taunting.
Nicole Jones was awful to work with. She was certainly the most unprofessional adult I have ever had to interact with and was condescending toward genuine concerns.
But, the teachers are wonderful! At least the ones we are working with now are. We love the curriculum and have seen more progress in just a few months than we did all last year or the year before at another charter in Park City.
We feel supported by the teachers and are grateful for the consistent communication.
If your kid can hang with a little bit of "spoiled suburban" mixed with "sink or swim" I would say this school is a wonderful investment.
