i took this train to chicago in the winter it was very cold but i still like the train ride well kinda

Winter is coming and with that comes the freezing cold. While this station provides ample parking, it comes at a cost. It’s $2.50 if you use the app, and $2 when you use the kiosks. Commuters are forced to pay from the time you pay in the morning until midnight. Which is completely unfair since commuters leave the parking lot in the afternoon. Businesses and events near by advertise that the parking structure provides them free parking in the afternoon and evenings. This is unfair to us and it’s also doing an injustice to the community. You might be wondering why I don’t get a monthly pass which would be cheaper, I am not an Oak Lawn resident. I live here with my husband who is an active duty Marine on military orders. I asked a representative from the city If I could purchase a parking pass and was denied, although I rent here and pay taxes just like everyone else. The kiosks are always out of paper, which have made it hard to prove I paid for parking (I got a ticket, flight it and lost). The exterior area of the building there are so many smokers those of us who are pregnant or have sensitive allergies are forced to go inside, we’re lucky if we can fit, as so many commute and take the train every day. I wish there were non smoking signs, especially near the entrance of the building. It is also a hazard that smoking is permitted while waiting for the train, as the train approaches they toss it in the railroad. Second hand smoking is a rea thing, and the city is not taking care of it’s patrons by allowing smokers to litter and smoke anywhere they please. The city needs to seriously consider smoking zones. I can not walk a foot without smelling smoke. We have seen homeless people sleeping on the benches we would otherwise use, there is no attendant here. It is a parking structure and and empty waiting room.
