This is a fantastic small train museum. The entire property including a station, cargo building, caboose and small passenger car are beautifully restored. The cargo building has a fantastic model trains display while the main station has a number of exhibits both about the station house itself but also the B&I railroad in general. It is the best free rail museum I've been to and definitely worth checking out even if you are just in Ellicott City for other activities.

Went to visit, amazing self-tour, their is a life-size caboose which you can go in, great informative signs, a big theater with a model of the first 13 miles of the railroad from the start in Baltimore to the Ellicott city station. There is also a museum main building with many thins to see including a model of rooms that existed back when the station was operational, I would 100% recommend to visit. (They have a gift shop too)

Pretty good considering we're in a pandemic. It was quaint, definitely historical and the gift shop was affordable and interesting. I went with my bf and our only complaint was that for some reason we were unable to get either one of two train cars designated for visitors.

I brought my two young kids with me and they were more than entertained and engaged. Extremely friendly staff! Andy, who was in charge of the model train building, was very welcoming and knowledgeable in the history of the rail line. It’s a smaller museum in comparison to its big sister in Baltimore, but it contains just as much history and definitely holds its own.

It has a beautiful working model railroad of bygone Ellicott City. It was a nostalgic visit to railroad station. All this for free, no tickets fee. Recommended for railroad enthusiast.
