Hampton Inn Baltimore-Downtown-Convention Center

Terrible service would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Though I am normally a loyal Hilton Honors member, my recent stay here has made me question even keeping my Hilton branded credit card.nnWhen checking in we noticed that the hotel was booked under my husband's name. I asked them to change it and they said it wouldn't be a problem. Upon checkout, they printed a receipt and it still had my husband's name. When we tried to get this corrected they refused saying that because of the rate type it was tied to my husband's account. Though this could make sense, they should have told me this upfront when I asked on check in. Since I was traveling on business, I will likely not get reimbursed for my travel expenses because of this receipt issue. Furthermore, they were willing to charge the stay to my work credit card although they listed the cardmember name as my husband's. This is impossible as he does not even have this credit card. Their unwillingness to fix a minor issue really demonstrates how they treat their guests. They are more willing to stick with documentation they know to be false rather than help work with guests. I called the global Hilton number and the local hotel with no success at resolving this issue.nnAll of the hallways also smelled like weed and the staff did not seem to care although we asked about the smell. It was really a terrible experience and everyone should really try and stay somewhere else in Baltimore. The only thing they have going is the location but it isn't worth it apart from that.

Great hotel: spacious rooms, comfortable bed, nicely furnished, not expensive, extremely over the top polite and amazing staff, loved my stay, very nice area! Close to lightraillink and buses. Highly recommend! Oh, and do not forget to pop in to Pickles Pub next door, like literally, next door! Great choice of draft beers and good food!)))

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The amenities were all closed and there was construction going on which fortunately didn’t seem to be disruptive to our stay. The first room we got smelled like cigarette smoke masked by room spray. It was gross and my son has asthma so the front desk kindly switched our rooms right away. We hauled our stuff to a different floor and a new room which smelled just fine and seemed to be clean minus some scraps of paper/crumbs under the desk. Our neighbors directly across the hall and at the end of the hall were apparently celebrating/partying together. They partied until about 2AM - smoking weed, playing loud music and carrying on in the hallway all night long. We had all three of our young children (ages 3/6/11) with us so when the smell of marijuana started entering our room at 10pm we had to wedge towels under the door to keep from it getting in. At this point we were over it and almost asked for our money back to stay elsewhere. Disappointing for a Hampton chain. Website said “family friendly” atmosphere but it felt more like a club. Will never stay here again even though we plan to visit Baltimore again in the near future.

At the time I stayed (12/2020) there was lots of renovations. It's rough staying in a hotel with renovations but, good to know that things are being updated. Unfortunately the walls are not well sound-proofed. My neighbors decided to have an argument at 5:30 am. Another neighbor had a very unhappy child. It was rough sleeping. Thankfully I finished my work early and was able to check out early.nI'm sure it'll be a nice stay after the renovations.

Good location. Front desk and valet service was very nice and friendly. Room was also nice. I enjoyed my brief stay!
